Why Is UC Browser Not Safe Anymore?

UC Browser is a very popular mobile browser in China as well as India. This browser is used by almost 500 Million users around the globe on their phones. People are using this browser for many years now.Lately, University of Toronto’s The Citizen Lab has contacted Alibaba and UCWeb regarding browser issues but hasn’t got an answer and just a promise of looking into the matter. The reports went viral when the issues weren’t solved and also directed to some flaws.
It was found that if we keep on using UC Browser, we might risk our security and privacy. There were issues related to the transmission of personal information and search queries. India and China, both language editions have privacy risk threats and there are reports of information leaks. The users who operate this on their Smartphone can also have their precious data leaked. So, according to the tests, UC Browser should not be used. Edward Snowden, the Former NSA contractor, has revealed in a document why this browser is not safe to use anymore.

After the tests were complete with Qualys SSL Test on the UC Browser’s last version, it was found that the user agent was vulnerable to Logjam, and to FREAK attack slowing down the POODLE. All these were indicating to upgrade the browser’s version or to disable SSL 3. This same test was also done for Brave browser. However, this browser was found to be completely safe. Along with that, the Brave browser had a good protocol support and shown zero vulnerability to FREAK, POODLE or Logjam.
So, overall it is clear that UC browser is not safe anymore and the reason behind it is that they haven’t paid much attention to security. This browser is considered good for coming up with new features. But, do make sure, you’re not making any transactions or online payments via this browser. I would any day suggest Google Chrome for any such online payments as it’s the safest browser available. Furthermore, if you want to download anything from the web or just want to use the internet casually, you can consider UC Browser.
